Obama Still A Blackberry Man

obamaputshisWhen you run for president of the United States, you can expect to have the spotlight trained on you all the time. When you actually become the president, then that spotlight will be even brighter and hotter. And that spotlight has been trained on Obama for quite a while now and it does not seem to be going anywhere.

Just the other day, he was spotted using his good old Blackberry. Now I know a lot of people who have a Blackberry and use it all the time. But those people are not the President of the US – not anywhere near that.

Rumor has it that Obama was supposed to get a new phone – a super phone! This phone, called the Sectera Edge, is made by defense contractor General Dynamics. It is the most secure of most secure smartphones, if reports can be believed. At the price of $3,350, it should be as secure as possible, right? Although it runs on Windows – yeah that’s secure – the National Security Agency swears to its stability and security. And that is why they want the president to use it.

However, as hard as Obama fought to become the 44th president, he also fought to keep his Blackberry by his side. I can’t blame him – it’s a nice phone and if you have been using it for a while, you wouldn’t want to change phones as well. At the end of the day, Obama won another battle – he gets to keep his Blackberry for personal use. Nice huh?

Have you heard of the latest hullaballoo in geekdom? Or maybe I should say nerdom. I just read this post over at Forever Geek, talking about how a professor is proposing to ban the words “geek” and “nerd.” Why? He says that their use merely helps in propagating the negative connotations [...]
