There has been an urgent move to turn to alternative energy for the many industries ever since global warming took center stage of economic forums. True to this, the world has changed a lot in the past fifty years of uncontrolled and unregulated business that has exchanged environmental impact for profits. Now, there is no more option but to pay attention and take these environmental factors into consideration for the impact has been so great that changes to the environment and weather have become apparent in as little as a few years leading to many man made disasters. The now troubling temperature extremes and other environmental effects are being felt and changes have to be made for we have been isolated and identified as the primary causes of these sudden changes.
As answer, people are coming up with more and more innovative ways of generating power for our ever-increasing gizmo’s which as we all know need a lot of power. Solar backpacks and chargers, windmills/wind farms, and now the human powered-charger in the form of the dynamo-loaded knee brace. We all walk and that is a fact that researchers have taken into account when they designed the “Knee Dynamo”. The system has dynamo’s or small compact generators (remember those small round thingy’s that were strapped onto the wheels of bicycles in the days of past that powered the headlights) that turned mechanical force into electrical energy for charging or direct use. The harder you pedal, the higher the output hence the brighter the light.
The ‘human-powered’ knee brace may someday become mainstay as a source of charging power for our ever increasing array of gadgets that need to be charged from time to time to maintain functionality. The system is very much similar to a regular power station but on a smaller and more environmental scale without the use of fossil fuel. Much research still has to be done with regards to the feasibility and reality of such systems but they are a breath of fresh air in this our oxygen choked air that has suffered a lot from years of toxic gasses that we expel into the air. We might not have a choice, and these future tech items may become vital for our survival as well as the earths as we become more green and clean.
