Guilty Green….Why?

March 19, 2008 By Nick

notsogreen.jpgIt just seems that everybody is on the go green bandwagon and everybody wants a hybrid car, solar panels to power your home, solar chargers for your gizmos and gadgets and just about anything with the “GREEN” label on it. Along with the “Go Green” movement comes a new generation of polluters and not so-green people all bundled up in one neat package. The term green describes anything that does not harm the environment, from the production, use and disposal; a totally green product must be sustainable, can be disposed of with minimal waste. People have been known to be very verbose about their drive to go green but that all ends in the home, the one truly private place where you are king and you can do all you want without the prying eyes of the public (if you stay off the Internet that is). People have been sharing stories of the Guilty Green type which has people using all the best products that are considered to be environmentally friendly yet leave the faucet running for a bout of tooth brushing. Driving an environmentally friendly hybrid yet leaving the air conditioner on, even with no one in the room. Being green and yet throwing away half the produce in your refrigerator you purchase at a premium price from an organic store. These are all situations we do not regularly and casually share with our ever growing GREEN community.
Of the millions of tons of recycled products there is another million tons of it hat still ends-up in waste processing plants which wastes manpower and energy by having to manually sort and separate recyclables from the ones that go to the landfill. Sometimes, people are all talk and less action which goes for the types who know they should be recycling and sorting rubbish yet they don’t do so.
