If the way most electronics stores are highlighting displays of the newest flat panel TVs at the expense of the bulkier CRT TV sets is any indication then the CRT technology that has been used by generations of viewers is effectively dead.In homes and stores all over the world flat panel displays like LCD TVs and Plasma TVs are slowly taking over. For example, in North America the sale of CRT TVs are declining rapidly. It is projected that by next year, CRT TVs will finally be giving away its crown of most sold TVs to LCD TVs for the first time. This is a major turn of events because CRTs have lorded it for decades. The rise of flat panels only means that we are entering a new technological chapter with very monumental implications, much akin to the shift from analog to digital technology.
