It’s probably pretty obvious by now that I am really into the iPod. I also know that I have been advised to go get some physical exercise. I’ve been procrastinating for the past year though…
What I saw the other day about a tie up between Nike and iPod might just be what I need to get that blood pumping. The idea is that you want some motivation while running. The stereotype is a jogger in a pair of Nikes running on happily, listening to music with the unmistakable white ear buds on.
So what’s the plus? I looked into the set up deeper and found out that Nike + shoes have a built-in pocket in the in-sole that would contain a small chip (pebble) that connects wirelessly to the iPod Nano. (Great, my iPod’s not a Nano!) The idea is that the chip will keep time, calculate your pace and caloric burn, and even egg you on! Yes, it talks.
The thing is, you need to get special Nike + shoes and the iPod Nano PLUS you have to buy the kit separately. The kit alone is not so badly priced at $29. As for the shoes, you need about $100. The Nano would set you back another $149 – $249, depending on the storage capacity.
Now I don’t know about you but that’s a bit too steep for me. That doesn’t mean this kit is one classy piece of engineering though.
