I know this is a bit of an iPod overload but give me this one last post about the subject. I seriously was going to write about something else (really explosive, check the blog in a couple of days) but when I checked the news, I saw the newly released Levi’s Redwire DLX Jeans. I couldn’t help myself, I just had to feature it!
This newest contraption is the result of a collaboration between the biggest name in jeans and the biggest name in mp3 players. Apple and Levi’s announced that this pair of jeans was in the making early in 2006. Of course, many people looked forward to it. Logic would dictate that such a cooperation would result in something BIG as well, wouldn’t it? However, hardly a few days have passed and people are already dissing the iPod jeans. All over cyberspace, you would read about disappointment, incredulity, and even amusement.
So what is not to like about the iPod jeans? A lot! Though I really really love my iPod and anything that would make it funner and easier to use would be great, the jeans are just so poorly done. For $200 you will have one big bulky pair of jeans with too many things connected to it. You’ll probably end up being more confused and irritated with this complex thingamajig. More so, I doubt any parent would want to shell out that much for a pair of jeans for a teenager.
Personally, though I’ve only seen it in pictures, I really don’t like the aesthetics. The iPod is beautiful, period. Now why would anyone want to wear something in sharp contrast to it?
