Angry users have voiced out their concern with the total poor performance of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 website. The company failed to foresee the influx of many users causing the site to bog down overwhelmed by the influx. This has left many irate customers whom Microsoft was hoping to appease with a free game for console owners, which was surprisingly also delayed causing more harm. This has happened again and again, companies releasing new products without provisions for enough support and site capability. The holiday season is considered to be the most active season on the whole calendar and to think that a multi-national firm like Microsoft would have better forecasting resources was a true bust indeed.
These incidents might become commonplace for companies are fighting a true cut-throat battle against others who are going after the same share of the market. The gaming console market has been shared by a select few like Sony with their PS3, Nintendo with the Wii and Microsoft with the Xbox which means they are offering more with less time to test and get all the bugs out. This seems to be a trend pioneered by Microsoft with their history of releases and fixes that come immediately signifying that development was raw and testing was just underway as they release the product. The company has also grown for it is still the most widely used operating system for PC’s worldwide, which has been a target for many OS forms for quite sometime. Apple managed to come out a good performer as the dust settled on it’s unorthodox of killing off its own products with the incident on the iPhone. The Wii, has also had it’s share of problems with a design flaw in their controller that had them make a soft-recall in order to replace handheld controllers with more robust ones due to breakage dangers causing it to fly off possibly hitting customers in their homes.
