When Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced its acquisition of graphics card manufacturer ATI Technologies early this year their respective rivals – Intel and Nvidia, respectively – cried foul, saying that it will be unhealthy for the industry as a whole.
Now there is talk that Intel may just do an AMD and acquire Nvidia. But according to analysts, it is unlikely for Intel to get the aforementioned graphics card company even though there is strong talk of takeover interest from other companies.
Last Wednesday, the stocks of Nvidia rose on rumors that Intel may have set its sights on the company. But now there is doubt that this merger will happen. According to analysts, it will not be a good fit as the two businesses will not likely jive where it really matters – its core businesses. But since rumors are still in the air only time will tell whether the two companies will decide to sleep together or not.
