Grandma Got Game

December 12, 2006 By gecko

Everyone who thought that gaming is only for teenagers and people below 40 should radically modify their beliefs when they see 70 year old Barbara Sainte-Hilaire, the senior (and we mean senior) game correspondent in MTV as well as the star of Old Grandma Hardcore, a very popular blog.Grandma Barbara is actually considered as a star in various video gaming communities. She has actually been a gamer for three decades now. Sainte-Hilaire, who has been described as having a potty mouth (I guess she did not acquire good manners in her long years on earth) is said to love role playing games and is very bad at sports games. She claims that she plays for almost 10 hours a day, which is far more than what her 23 year old grandson logs in with his gaming habit.

You know that Sainte-Hilaire is no poseur because she owns a very impressive collection of game consoles that would make other gamers green with envy. She said she just finished playing Dead Rising on the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Resident Evil on the GameCube. She said that it is a form of relaxation for her. The funny thing is she also curses at the television whenever she gets stumped on particular game levels – a trait that is universally shared by gamers from all over the world.

Sainte-Hilaire is proving that gaming is not just a form of entertainment and that it is actually aiding her by keeping her brain active, practicing her reaction times and also encouraging social interaction.

Sainte-Hilaire is what every geek would want to be when they grow old
