Microsoft is still not backing down from its challenge to the iPod’s throne.

The software giant is backing its Zune media player through a new offering — a Gears of War 2 themed special edition Zune.

The special Zune will be released to the market on the same day the game comes out, which is on November 7. This Zune will have a different bac and will be preloaded with 240 pieces of different Gears of War and Gears of War 2 media, which includes the soundtrack, behind-the-scene videos, trailers, and art galleries, among others.

These special edition Zunes will cost 30 to 50 dollars more than the vanilla variety Zunes.
