Well, you’ve guessed it right. The guys who make the ever popular personal digital music player is now under discussions with one German automaker Volkswagen to make a prototype vehicle that is loaded with the capabilities of the iPod. Based on information gathered from a reliable source, they aim to produce a vehicle that will be compatible with the now common digital music players with the necessary interfaces and other stuff needed to share information and play music of course.
The development of the iCar would be the joining of two relatively distinct areas of technology that would have a car loaded with your own personal digital player. Cars as we know have been computerized for quite sometime with the quite expensive ones being able to tell the mechanic what part of it is malfunctioning (so why are they called mechanics?). This makes servicing quite a breeze lessening the time needed to diagnose a problem which can be done easily through a hook-up with a computer with the right software.
Merging the world of digital music with the automotive industry is another sign that these guys have to find more uses for the latest technologies and equipment that they come up with cramming them into every imaginable device they could find. The said crossbreed can upload music using the standard USB interface, Bluetooth or other wireless networking options. MP3 player-coffee maker anyone? What’ll they think of next, the musical refrigerator? So driving in the future would not only send you to the gas station to fill up, but to the nearest USB port to upload your favorite digital music and other files.
Now that’ll be one less gadget to stick into your pocket. Just wish it could be the other way round, say, a car you can put into your pocket???
