3 Top Geekiest Kickstarter Projects Ever

September 11, 2014 By Teresa Martinez

Kickstarter has jump-started some of the more interesting innovations introduced to humankind. Some have generated more interest than others prompting a number of people to buy kickstarter projects by virtue of curiosity. What could be more attention-grabbing than the 3 top geekiest kickstarter projects ever.

Useless Can

Imagine exploring the possibilities of science and robotics only to produce a useless can. The interesting part here is that several people are already backing up this project to produce a can that can only turn itself off and nothing else. What is even more interesting here is the amount of work that needs to go into producing this can which does absolutely nothing. You would need to assemble 45 pieces of parts to form one useless can.  So if you want to indulge into sheer uselessness, this can is one perfect prop to have.

Socket Circuits

What could be more wonderfully geeky than a papercraft animated robot with a LED-lit barrier grid animation called BarriBot? It is actually the beginning of a continuous development of a papercraft programmable and swarm capable robot. Socket Circuits provide learning and inventing, in that particular order. Simply put, its electronics and toys on paper.

Know Your Numbers

A game to help you memorize your most important contact numbers, one cannot help but think how gaming can be allowed to be as geeky as needing to memorize numbers. Know Your Numbers is an app for use in smartphones. Hopefully this does the trick when it does leave the drawing board.

Funding Chances for Geeky Projects

So how do geeky projects like the three mentioned above actually fare when it comes to attracting funding support? They actually fare a lot better than most . Either people are just so tired  of old products just getting modified over and over that they would actually rather see innovative albeit geeky products have their chance or they want to see something new, period.

Product creators will never really know if their idea could reach out the public unless they present them. Geeky or not, worthy products need to get the attention and patronage of buyers. Putting them in Kickstarter just gives an incredible head-start.

How to Create an Impressive Technology Blog

May 4, 2014 By Teresa Martinez

So you’ve opened your tech blog, gave it a customary techie look, promoted it your social media accounts, and submitted it to a reputable technology blog directory. Work accomplished? Probably not if you have been at it for quite some time and you have yet to create a tiny ripple in the online world. Is it possible that you have not created a technology blog that is not quite impressive as you hoped it to be? Possible!

How can you create blogs that roar instead of whimper?

Create a Physical Appearance Which the Audience Can Relate To

If you are targeting a specific audience like what one usually does when creating a tech site, it is important to make it clear that you are offering a tech site. Do not confuse the audience by choosing a blog theme or lay-out that exudes an image that is far from being techie. Create the atmosphere and the overall experience so you get to attract the right audience you cater to.

Create the Expected Content While Providing Suitable Surprises

Creating expected content is necessary so as not to disappoint those who are searching for such information. However, expected content need not be boring since they can always be presented in more exciting ways. Also, unexpected but related contents are always welcome additions to a roster of quality content. Just be very careful not to totally deviate from the niche as this can also end up confusing your regular readers.

Be The First

Topics in technology are frequently updated. It would be a plus factor if your blog is the first or at least among the early ones who provide information about new tech developments. Providing consistently updated information will develop the habit among readers to look at your blog first . Being at the tail-end of tech developments is not really in sync with the desire to be one of the most impressive tech blogs there is.

Get Your Blog Out There

If you do not have the attention and traffic you want, you need to take steps to create it. More often than not, lasting impression is created by the person behind the blog. As the author, you need to be out there for you to bring back something to your blog as shown in your contents. Promote yourself as you promote your blog. It will be difficult to separate one from the other so try to be as impressive as you want your blog to be.

Transparent Inventions

August 2, 2013 By Teresa Martinez

When Richard Drew invented the transparent adhesive tape known as Scotch Tape in 1930, the world it seemed have much transparent wonder to go around to last it a life time. It performed just about any adhesive function  imaginable. Today, we are seeing so many transparent gadgets being produced that it is hard to imagine the degree of awe that the transparent tape elicited from the public.

Transparent Iron

Of what particular reason would we want a transparent iron? Nothing really but it sure looks pretty neat, doesn’t it? Science researchers have found a way to arrange two iron plates and make them transparent or invisible. Using the technique referred to as electromagnetically induced transparency, the absorption of light by an atom or nucleus is balanced with a corresponding emission resulting to a material that is almost “not there”.

Transparent Bathtub

A transparent bathtub per se does not provide any much difference without the modern contraptions included in it although the aesthetic effect is certainly extraordinary. The tub shown above is actually a lounger and a bathtub in one. The swiveling lamp adds a unique touch to it as well.

Transparent Toaster

See Your Toast Toast: Transparent Toaster

With the use of heating glass technology, we can actually see our toast done before our very eyes. That is of course granting that you have nothing else to do. Still, it is quite a neat addition to the kitchen.

Transparent Washing Machine

This transparent washing machine looks like a gadget from the future, at least is still is. It hasn’t taken off yet but it is quite interesting to see a variation of this appliance in transparent form. I am not exactly sure though what kind of satisfaction to derive from seeing the clothes as they get washed.

Transparent TV

After the warm reception of the transparent TV in a 2011 Design Competition, the transparent TV is yet to find its way in people’s living rooms. Still, the completely see-through TV continues to capture the imagination of consumers wanting to have a share of this ambitious development. What is especially lovely with the transparent TV is that it completely blends with its surroundings whether on or off.

These are all actually very nice but I wonder if any of these will surpass the use of the good ol’ scotch tape.
